OMG! I have gotten lost Downtown 4 times in the last 2 days !!! How is that possible? First I went downtown to meet my new friend Steve Stelzer with The Green Building Center www.codegreenhouston.org/documents/gbrc-electronic…/view.htm
I got lost going there and I got lost leaving there! The extra bonus was that I got a “warning” from a nice policeman leaving downtown as apparently you cannot go straight on a street when you are in a lane that says “Right Turn Only” my bad! I guess I would have noticed if I WAS NOT LOST AND LOOKING EVERY WHICH WAY TO SEE WHERE 59 N was.
Today OGS was blessed to be featured on Great Day Houston with Debra Duncan. Well it started out as a blessing until I got lost trying to find Allen Parkway and almost went the wrong way on a one way road! I was sure that on the way home from KHOU I would back track and with ease find my way back to the store……NOT! I ended up in a nice little neighborhood where I could not even see the Houston skyline yet a freeway! I was late to get the store open at 10:00 a.m. was so frustrated that I actually entertained the idea of stopping at a little portable Taquito truck for some breakfast tacos…..I digress… I finally found 59N (seems to be hiding from me lately) got to the store by 10:15 and I tell you I am always at the store by 9:30 at the latest and nobody ever comes by until around 11 a.m.
Until today…. there was a message on the answering machine from a women who came by the store at 10:00 a.m. and nobody was there! Imagine that? Oh well, I guess I will have to break down and get a GPS sytem for my trips downtown or maybe I will just stay on One Green Street where I know my way around!
Every day feels like Christmas for me here at OGS…packages, new arrivals and suprizes galore. However, when Miss Ruby Sue’s package arrives it is like Christmas times 10! Each of her pieces are so unique and special I feel like I need to do background checks on all that purchase her works of art!!! Check out her Austin Statement piece! (sideways of course, since I have not figured out how to rotate pictures yet)
Yesterday we had our Model Call at One Green Street and was it a blast. We had two young girls come in to shop at the time of the call and they ended up being Fashion Fusion models…..who knows they could be the next Kate Moss and WE discovered them! Beverly D came by to talk to the girls about doing their hair the day of the show. They were surprised when she announced that they should come to her shop and get a head massage, wash, condition, dry and style before the fashion show! I didn’t know she was going to do all that! Right away I wished I was modeling….a head massage!!!!!!!!! The countdown begins to our first Fashion Fusion Spring Show, I can’t wait!
One of my favorite customers just rushed into the store and scooped up 12 boxes of Betsy’s Cheese Straws! I felt like a hero when she told me that her brother unexpectedly showed up on her doorstep the other night. As she poured him a glass of wine she wondered (since his visit was unexpected) what she could serve to snack on with the wine, when suddenly she remembered the Blue Cheese Cheese Straws she bought at the OGS that afternoon! Relieved she served her brother a nice glass of wine and a bowl of Cheese Straws which he happily devoured!
Houstonian Jennifer Dawn lives her Poetry and now she is sharing it with us at One Green Street. Her poems “I Am” and “Heels” are heartfelt and empowering for all who read them. We are now carrying Jennifer’s one shoulder T’s and T-shirts with her poetry on them. She is so amazing…I am wearing her “I Am” T today and I love it! We decided yesterday that we will hold a Poetry Reading next month here in the store featuring Jennifer Dawn and any other budding Poets! Stay tuned.
Last night was Sari Motley’s skincare line launch here at the store. She wore a Glamarita Necktie skirt and a A Lot To Say “Smokin” tank! Is it possible to be beautiful inside and out, talented and have your own skincare line? Well, if you took a walk down One Green Street last night you would know the answer to that question. I am left wondering after a FABU time last night why more people did not take advantage of this crazy cool opportunity????? We laughed, drank, ate, learned and made new friends…we were a community. I can’t wait until we do it all over again…..and we will.
Well, Tomorrow night Sari Motley will be officially launching her skincare line here at OGS! You know why I am so excited? After years of spending tons of money on skincare and not really knowing what is in it, how it is made, where it is made I can now just ask!!!!! “Sari, what made you decide to develop the lip polish? what is in it? what results should I expect?” I get to ask the CREATOR of my skincare line those kinds of questions. Woo Hoo! Guess what? You can ask her too! You want her to look at your skin up close and personal? Come to the event tomorrow night and ask! Oh, and maybe have a little champagne and some strawberries while your at it! See you tomorrow!
Hey friends, I just wanted you to know that One Green Street will observe the Easter holiday this Sunday and therefore will be closed all day. We will reopen on Tuesday, April 6th. Have a great holiday.
Wow, I can’t believe that we have been open for 2 whole months. I look around the store and still get soooooo excited! I have the greatest team working with me to get the word out on the street that we are here and that we have amazing things to offer Houston and the world. I am beginning to recognize my customers by face and by name. I am really starting to feel that sense of community that I hoped for and wished for. I love my store and I can’t wait each day to get here and share it with others!
